Wait times vary from a few days to a few weeks. Wait times are determined by individual clients’ needs and barriers. Intakes take place from 8:00am until 5:00pm or unless otherwise scheduled ahead of time. If you do not arrive at your scheduled intake time, it is your responsibility to contact the intake office so that we can try to re-schedule your intake. Certain clients are required to be medically detoxed before attending treatment at InnerVisions. Detox requirements are determined by the individual health, using habits, and age of each client. During the intake process, our intake workers consult with our Addictions Physicians to determine the detox needs of each individual client. Clients who are required to attend detox prior to admission at InnerVisions can access a variety of resources. We can facilitate direct entry to treatment from detox so that clients can have the smoothest transition possible.
We can accommodate out of town clients with flexible intake times if necessary. However, we encourage that intake be done during business hours if at all possible.
Wait times can vary from zero to a couple of weeks depending on bed space availability and the severity of your circumstance. Our wait times vary based on individual client needs and barriers. Once a client is eligible for treatment we do our best to make intake happen as quickly as possible.
Intake with InnerVisions is a self-referral process. Medical practitioners, Employee Assistance Workers, community services agencies, family, friends, probation officers, social workers, etc., can make referrals to the facility, but ultimately we need to speak to the prospective clients themselves. InnerVisions requires a total personal commitment from its clients.
Family and friends are not permitted to visit the treatment centres during a client’s stay. If a client needs to receive personal items or gifts, please do so through mail and do not personally deliver to the facility

Problematic substance use happens when someone uses drugs or alcohol in a harmful way that has negative effects on their health and life. Drugs and alcohol have the potential for problematic use because they produce feelings that may feel good to someone, such as a feeling of calm or increased energy or euphoria, or a “high”. These feelings can lead to a person to continue to seeking out the drugs or alcohol. At InnerVisions, the litmus test for addiction is whether a person drinks or uses more than he or she intends to at any given time. We believe the loss of control over using substances is a clear sign of addiction and/or alcoholism.
Alcohol abuse, or alcoholism, is the continued consumption of alcohol in uncontrollable amounts. At InnerVisions, the litmus test for alcoholism is whether a person drinks or uses more than he or she intends to at any given time. We believe the loss of control overusing substances is a clear sign of addiction and/or alcoholism.
Drug or alcohol rehabilitation (often drug/alcohol rehab or just rehab) is a term for the processes of treatment, for dependency on psychoactive substances such as alcohol, prescription drugs, and street drugs such as cocaine, heroin, methadone, or methamphetamine. The intent is to enable the client to cease substance abuse, in order to avoid the psychological, legal, financial, social, and physical consequences that can be caused, especially by extreme abuse.
Detoxification or detox is the removal of toxic substances from the body. Additionally it can refer to the period of withdrawal when a person’s body works to reacclimatize to normal after sustained long-term use of an addictive substance. Alcohol detox is not a treatment for alcoholism.
After detoxification, other treatments must be undergone to deal with the underlying addiction that caused the alcohol use. Drug or medicated detoxification protocols are used to reduce or relieve withdrawal symptoms while helping the addicted individual adjust to living without drug use; drug detoxification is not meant to treat addiction but rather and early step in long-term treatment.
Detoxification may be achieved drug free or may use medications as an aspect of treatment. Many factors impact the detoxification process. Depending on the individual circumstances of each potential client InnerVisions may require a client to enter a detox facility prior to admission.
